Sri Lankan Independence Day



 Sri Lankan Independence Day, celebrated annually on the 4th of February, marks a significant milestone in the history of Sri Lanka. It commemorates the day in 1948 when the country gained independence from United Kingdom after nearly 150 years of colonial rule. This national event symbolizes freedom, sovereignty, and the beginning of a new era for the Sri Lankan people.

The history of independence in Sri Lanka is deeply rooted in a long struggle against colonial domination. The island was successively ruled by the Portuguese, the Dutch, and finally the British.    My country is Sri Lanka. My country, where I was born, is known as the pearl of the Indian Ocean. Sri Lanka, which is blessed with natural beauty, can be described as a country that attracts the eyes of both local and foreign nationals.  There are four main ethnic groups in Sri Lanka, each with its own religion. Accordingly, there are Sinhalese, Muslim, Tamil, and Catholic ethnic groups in Sri Lanka, and among them, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and Christianity are the main religions.  The first and most important thing about Sri Lanka is that Sri Lanka is a Buddhist country.
